Lino-C Injection

Lino-C Injection

(Clindamycin 300 mg/2 ml) Class: Lincosamide Parenteral Antibiotic
Lino-C Injection contains Clindamycin, a lincosamide antibiotic effective against Gram-positive aerobes and a wide range of anaerobic bacteria. It is used for serious infections requiring injectable therapy.

Antibacterial Spectrum:

  • Gram-positive aerobes (e.g., Staphylococcus, Streptococcus)
  • Anaerobic bacteria (both Gram-positive and Gram-negative)

Mechanism of Action:

  • Clindamycin binds to the 50S subunit of bacterial ribosomes, inhibiting early stages of protein synthesis.
  • Bacteriostatic at therapeutic levels
  • Slowly bactericidal at higher concentrations against susceptible strains

Indications:

  • Septicemia
  • Intra-abdominal infections
  • Lower respiratory tract infections
  • Gynecological infections
  • Bone and joint infections
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Streptococcal pharyngitis
  • Acne vulgaris
  • Bacterial vaginosis
  • Severe pelvic inflammatory disease (PID)

Precautions:

Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disease, particularly colitis

Drug-Drug Interactions:

  • Avoid use with skeletal muscle relaxants
  • Increased risk of bleeding when used with vitamin K antagonists (e.g., warfarin, acenocoumarol) due to altered PT/INR levels

Contraindications:

  • Known hypersensitivity to clindamycin or any component
  • Pregnancy and lactation unless clearly needed

Warnings:

  • May disrupt normal intestinal flora, leading to Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD)
  • Monitor for signs of pseudomembranous colitis

Side Effects:

  • Pseudomembranous colitis
  • Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • Hypersensitivity reactions (rare)

Dosage and Administration:

  • Serious infections: 600 mg to 1.2 g/day in 2–4 divided doses
